A Journey of Empathy: A Visit to Navkshitiz Supporting Special Friends

Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan’s insightful journey of empathy and connection

Pune (Maharashtra), [India], May 29 2024: Courtyard by Marriott Pune Chakan embarked on an insightful journey of empathy and connection. A visit to Navkshitiz (New Horizon) dedicated to supporting special individuals with unique abilities and vibrant spirits that enrich our society.

Equipped with groceries and essential supplies, eager to lend a hand wherever they could, the CY Pune Chakan team sought not only to understand but to actively participate in the daily lives of these remarkable individuals. The Center Navkshitiz welcomed us with open arms, revealing a community of approximately 45 special friends, aged between 21 and 56 years.

The CY Pune Chakan team quickly realized that the health and happiness of our special friends are top priorities. Every day, they start their mornings with walks in nature, exercise, and gym sessions to keep themselves fit and healthy. We saw them crafting beautiful products like paper bags, fragrant candles, and even chocolates to sell in the market. It was heartening to witness them earning money just like anyone else. But life isn’t all about work; there was plenty of play too! Evenings were filled with music, dance, and cricket matches. And once a month, they go out to eat or shop, fulfilling their needs and wishes, which made them feel proud and happy to be part of the community.

One of the most touching moments for the team was witnessing the kindness and support the special friends showed for each other. Despite their own challenges, they always looked out for one another.

As they said goodbye to us, the special friends invited us to dance with them. It was a joyful moment, filled with laughter and happiness. Our team left with memories etched in their heart, grateful for the chance to connect with such inspiring individuals.

Reflecting on their visit, CY Pune Chakan team realized the power of inclusion and acceptance. It wasn’t just about helping others it was about learning from them too. Each special friend had a unique story to tell, and the team was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

In a world that often focuses on differences, the visit to the Center reminded the team members of diversity and inclusivity. It’s not about what sets us apart, but what brings us together. Through their shared experiences, they discovered the true meaning of friendship, resilience, and the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect.

We felt honored to offer a helping hand by providing groceries and essential cleaning supplies to support their daily lives. While we understood it wasn’t everything they needed, we hoped it would show our care and support, even in small ways. It was a simple act of kindness, but one filled with meaning and significance. We are thankful to Eco Lab for serve 360 program.
