Taiwan Expo 2024 India Drives Business Opportunities Exceeding USD 100 Million

Rising India: Infinite Business Opportunities

The “Taiwan Expo 2024 India” concluded successfully on July 10 at the International Exhibition Center in New Delhi, attracting 15,000 visitors and generating over USD 100 million in business opportunities. Themed “Elevating Taiwan-India Cooperation to New Heights,” the exhibition seized upon India’s emergence as a global hub for regional manufacturing. It aligned with Indian governmental policies and showcased Taiwan’s strengths in ICT, AI, electronics and mechanical manufacturing, environmental sustainability, biotech healthcare, and smart living solutions across five thematic zones: Smart Cities, Smart Manufacturing, Green Innovations, Health & Wellness Fiesta, and Smart Lifestyle.

The exhibition garnered extensive coverage from major Indian media outlets such as Times of India, Economic Times, and Reuters, enhancing visibility for Taiwanese products. Organized by the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the event proactively invited industry buyers, attracting prominent entities including Tata Group subsidiaries Tata Power and Tata Sons, Dixon Technologies (India’s leading electronics contract manufacturer), textile giant H.P Singh Agencies, fashion brand Kuku Fashions, Yashoda Super Specialty Hospitals, and top medical service provider Medihelp, alongside various Indian government departments for business discussions.

With the global drone industry set to reach USD 54.6 billion by 2030, the exhibition featured Taiwan’s national drone team, including AHAMANI, which secured negotiations with multiple buyers and government units over the purchase of 15,000 agricultural and firefighting drones.
TAIWAN UAV CO., LTD., specializing in military drones, engaged in discussions on potential partnerships with a publicly listed company operating over 400 factories, hinting at prospective business ventures in India.

Taiwan’s “Smart Machinery Overseas Promotion Project,” coordinated by the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, featured 17 enterprises in the smart manufacturing pavilion, presenting complete supply chain solutions. Notably, Yessing Machinery, specializing in shoe and textile machinery, signed a contract with Indian foam manufacturer M/S Trinath Industries for automated spraying equipment, setting the stage for potential long-term collaboration.

In pursuit of achieving “net-zero carbon emissions” by 2070, India’s immediate and mid-term economic outlook supports burgeoning opportunities. The Sustainable Innovation Textiles Zone at the exhibition facilitated discussions between renowned functional fabric supplier Little King Global and dozens of potential buyers, with about half showing interest in collaboration. WYNIST Retail Solutions Inc., a leading player in textile fiber recycling technology, engaged in discussions with major South Indian textile, chemical, and mechanical firms, with plans to visit Taiwan for further partnership exploration.

Several participating companies highlighted current Indian buyer concerns over China manufactured goods, presenting a favorable window for Taiwanese enterprises to enter the Indian market. Despite challenges, the exhibition underscored the immense potential of the Indian market. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council will continue to support business expansion into the South Asian region with the “South Asia Business Day” scheduled for September 25 in Taipei. Businesses are encouraged to stay informed and actively participate.
