Hemant Suresh Avhad – Winner of the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award

“Echoes of Bharat” – A Poetic Resurrection of India’s Timeless Soul

Some poetry seeks to stir the heart. Some aims to awaken a nation. In Echoes of Bharat, Hemant Suresh Avhad accomplishes both—with a collection of 21 resonant poems that revive the spirit of Sanatan Dharma, valorous warriors, visionary sages, and revolutionaries who built the foundation of India’s civilizational glory.

Recipient of the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award, Echoes of Bharat is not simply a literary project—it is a soul offering. Each poem breathes life into forgotten heroes, sacred traditions, and the fire of patriotism. From ancient Vedic echoes to the triumphs of freedom fighters, Hemant’s words form a bridge between the Bharat that was, and the Bharat that must endure.

“The inspiration to write Echoes of Bharat was born from a deep emotional and spiritual connection with India’s timeless legacy,” Hemant shares. “When my daughter Ishani was born, I asked myself—what version of Bharat will she inherit? And how can I help preserve its soul?”

This moment became the creative ignition for a book that is as stirring as it is reverent. Hemant’s poems are not limited to rhymes—they are narratives, echoing centuries of strength, sacrifice, and spiritual wisdom. He writes with the devotion of a student of Sanatan Dharma, the discipline of an engineer, and the clarity of a storyteller with a mission.

A Project Management Professional in the Real Estate sector, Hemant holds a Postgraduate degree in Construction Management, a Civil Engineering degree, and is currently pursuing an MBA in Marketing. But behind the credentials lies a poet deeply attuned to India’s cultural soul.

The Emily Dickinson Award jury described his work as “a remarkable fusion of emotional intensity, historical reverence, and lyrical precision.” In an age of distractions, Echoes of Bharat reminds us of who we are—and who we must never forget to be.

Whether recounting the wisdom of sages or the courage of unsung martyrs, Hemant’s verses beat with a singular conviction: Bharat is not just a land—it is a legacy. A civilization of depth, courage, and unmatched resilience.

With this work, Hemant Avhad has done more than win a literary award—he has ignited a movement in verse. His writing is a call to remembrance, a prayer of patriotism, and a spark for future generations to carry forward the flame.
