What specialized products does ACON OPTICS Communications Inc. offer?

Our specialties include in passive fiber optics interconnect and optical components for solutions in telecommunications, data center, fiber to the antenna, fiber to the home etc. Our products coverage includes single-mode or multi-mode ferrules, connectors, adapters, and patchcords.

With increasing penetration of internet services – there is a latent demand for fiber optical components. How much increase in demand do you see in the current scenario?

Approximately 10% increase in global demand.

Medical sector is another big sector for fiber optical components. How are you tapping into this sector as a potential growth driver?

Operating rooms contribute nearly 60% of a hospital’s revenue. Given this, it is no surprise that hospital managers have prioritized surgical volume and OR efficiency. Through ACON OPTICS medical imaging routing system providing, we can help connect hospital teams inside the OR and outside the OR for realtime video conference, collaboration and educational applications. The ACON OPTICS solution gives OR staff the freedom to focus on the patients instead of diagnosing video transmission issues.

What are the three big trends you forsee for your sector over the next 5 years?

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the work-from-home and stay-at-home trends picked up pace. The demand for high-speed connectivity is on the rise. ➢ Increasing demand in FTTx deployment ➢ Increasing demand in 4G LTE/ 5G networks. ➢ Surging number of data centers

APAC regions like India will continue to drive the demand for fiber optical components due to the large-scale internet and digitization process. What is you view on this?

Yes. India digital infrastructures are still in developing phase and fiber solution such as FTTx and data centers will likely be the key focus. This is more evident during this pandemic period as more companies adopting work from home arrangement.

Why is India a lucrative market for ACON OPTICS Communications Inc.?

The increasing demand for Optical Fiber Connectors and Cables from the IT & telecom sector, rising number of mobile devices, increasing adoption of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) connectivity, and surging number of data centers is anticipated to fuel the fiber optic cables market in India over the coming years. For instance, Cloud Companies are partnering with telecom operators to create edge datacenters. (E.g. Microsoft has tied up with Reliance Jio & Airtel has teamed up with Google Cloud in India.)

What is the potential business you expect to garner in India?

We will work with our local partners to expand our market share.

How does ACON OPTICS Communications Inc. stand out against the local manufacturers, in India?

ACON OPTICS has independent R&D and product design capabilities using our state-of-the-art technologies like high-precision injection capabilities, automated assembly production and high-end testing equipment. We cooperate with the world’s major telecommunication equipment manufacturers to develop future high-end products.

How many countries outside Taiwan have you created your presence?

China, Japan and USA etc. 3 countries.

What was the strategic focus to partner with TPC?

TPC has been our partner for many years. They help us to connect with our local customers to understand their needs. TPC will still be our main partner to expand the Indian market in future.

Do you have any presence in India? What are the business plans in India for the next 5 years?

Currently, we do not have any presence in India. In the next 5 years, we will focus on supporting our local customers riding the 5G telecommunications and data center wave in India.

How do you plan to expand your business in India?

The pandemic has changed the way we connect with our customers. We will adopt more online engagement along with our participation in local key exhibitions.

What are the key challenges you face in the Indian market? Pricing pressure from our customers and competitors is still a key challenge in Indian market.

Post Covid how has the sector fared and what are your key strategic plans? During Covid the need for telecommunications has increase dramatically. We anticipate that business will continue to grow post Covid. We are planning to expand our presence to more countries to serve our customers better.

Give us a sense of the growth numbers in the last fiscal and the expected growth this fiscal?

Our margin grew 23% in 2020 compared to 2019. Our revenue is estimated to have a significant growth in the fiscal year of 2021
