Project Spotlight: A Seamless Fusion of Art and Function at Parsvnath Exotica Located in the heart of Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road, this 2600 sqft home in Parsvnath Exotica tells a story of elegance, thoughtful design, and a seamless blend of art and function. Tasked with transitioning the clients from a larger 3800 sqft residence, our goal was to preserve the grandeur and functionality they were accustomed to while crafting a more intimate yet equally impressive space. The clients, known for their impeccable taste and a well-curated collection of art and artifacts, presented a unique challenge: how to honor each piece without overwhelming the space. Every corner of this home needed to speak to their love for art while maintaining a balance of sophistication and functionality. Entrance Foyer & Living Spaces: The entrance was designed with intent—a rich green tone that sets the stage for a home where bold colors meet thoughtful textures. The foyer provides a grand sense of arrival, inviting guests into a living area that flows naturally into the rest of the home. The bar area, designed as a focal point, seamlessly merges with the dining and living spaces, offering a perfect setting for both intimate family moments and larger gatherings. Cohesive Design with Custom Solutions: With storage being a priority, custom cabinetry and integrated solutions were incorporated throughout the house, ensuring that the functionality never compromised the aesthetic appeal. The dining area, for instance, features a sleek sliding door that connects to the kitchen, maintaining an open yet organized feel. Bedrooms & Private Spaces: In the private quarters, bespoke pieces such as a custom-designed bed and built-in storage solutions enhance the sense of luxury without adding visual clutter. The use of natural light, soft textures, and carefully selected furnishings contribute to the overall sense of tranquility. From the mask wall that anchors the living area to the careful placement of their most treasured pieces, every element in this home was curated with intent, ensuring that the transition from a larger space to this elegant residence felt effortless.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER & INTERIOR DESIGNER:
Passion for interior designing led her to taking it up as a successful career
Homework, the brand was conceptualised by Shagun Singh who is the lead Interior Designer for the firm. She is a designer by passion and a hotelier by education. She comes from a fairly large and influential hoteliering family and perhaps some of the sensibility for design got instilled in her watching her mother and grandfather. On graduating from the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration where started her career with ITC Hotels in the Sales and Marketing Division where she worked actively from 2001 to 2008. In 2008 she joined her father’s firm AM Services 24×7 Pvt. Ltd where she continues to work today and introduced the brand of Homework to the firm. The parent firm was a small manpower solutions firm providing skilled manpower to a handful of corporate houses but once Shagun joined the firm she added big names to the firms’ portfolio like Cushman & Wakefield, GMR, JLL, ITC Hotels, Ballarpur Industries to name a few.
Whilst the parent firm continued to grow the challenge was neither exciting nor fulfilling for her and she needed to do something more, something she knew more about and could be more hands on but more importantly meet more people like herself. Homework came about to satiate that need of her’s and learn something new that finally led her to take on the role of an Interior Designer. She always loved keeping a beautiful space and from a young age was house proud, so doing up others spaces was a fun and exciting prospect that came naturally to her.
She considers her design sensibility to be contemporary classic – which means she always tries to keep some of the traditional aspects to merge in with the modern. She believes strongly that a home should be warm and inviting and should be able to tell a story that is unique. Having run cleaning services for so many years she knows how difficult it is to maintain and keep things looking as good as new. So while suggesting material and product finishes to clients she is always mindful to suggest easy to maintain and yet aesthetically beautiful things to her clients. The play of colors is something you will notice not so much through wall textures but through fabrics . India is a haven she believes in for some of the finest textures and designs in fabrics and making use of these in her projects in something you will always see.
ABOUT THE BRAND HOMEWORK INTERIOR STUDIO:
Homework Interior Design Studio is a brand of the parent firm AM Services 24×7 Pvt. Ltd . Homework is truly today a one stop shop service provider for home owners looking to remodel their personal spaces. They offer a complete design and concept solution and an end to end execution service to their clients.
Homework started operations in 2012 as a deep cleaning and marble polishing services provider. Gurgaon has some of the country’s most expensive real estate and when Homework started back in 2012 they were the only service providers in this niche space. The USP was their people – their workmen who are on payrolls and whom they invest a lot of time on for training, development and general welfare. Word spread fast and by 2015 they had a customer base of almost 2500 homes. They were adding new clients in the space every single day plus our repeat customers usage remained very high. In 2015 they decided that there was an opportunity in the whole construction and renovation space where especially home owners spending their personal money were often left very flustered when remodelling their spaces.
From then on they haven’t quite looked back since then as they took on full blown and part renovations and by the end of 2021 they had done under their belt close to 50 full home renovations and almost 200 bathroom makeovers.
In 2020 they added design consulting formally to their portfolio. Up until then they were assisting clients with design but at all times being cautious to remind them that this was their sensibility on design. It was only when they had the complete confidence that they formally took on design projects which they started charging a fee for.
Today with this extensive profile they can truly call themselves a one stop shop in the space of home improvements and makeovers.
