Hyderabad, (Telangana) [India] April 8: In a significant step towards strengthening last-rites support for the Muslim community, Safaa Bait-ul-Maal has announced the expansion of its welfare initiative, Mobile Ghusl Service – Aakhri Safar, aimed at easing the growing challenges families face in conducting dignified burials across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Addressing the media, Maulana Ghyas Ahmed Rashadi, President of Safaa Bait-ul-Maal, said the city’s population has crossed one crore, while residential spaces continue to shrink, making proper funeral arrangements increasingly difficult. “Recognising this pressing need, we launched the mobile van service in September 2021. Since then, we have facilitated the burial rites of 9,120 deceased individuals. However, the demand continues to outpace our capacity,” he noted. He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to ensuring that every deceased Muslim, irrespective of financial status, receives ghusl (bath) and kafan(shroud) services in accordance with Sunnah, right at their doorstep.
As part of the expansion, two fully equipped mobile ghusl vans will be inaugurated on Thursday, April 9, 2026, after Zuhr prayers at Toli Masjid, Karwan East, Hyderabad. Each van is fitted with a 200-litre water tank, geyser, shower system, platform for bathing, drainage system, kafan kits, and modern sanitation facilities.
Highlighting operational challenges, Maulana Fasihuddin Nadvi, General Secretary, pointed to the shortage of trained assistants—particularly women—along with traffic congestion and space constraints in homes, as key hurdles in managing funeral arrangements. Maulana Mohammad Musaddiq Al-Qasmi, Secretary, added that the expansion would enable quicker response times and allow the organisation to reach more families with compassion and efficiency.
Mufti Abdul Muhaimin Azhar Al-Qasmi, Vice President, Safa Baitul Maal, that the initiative is not merely a service but a humanitarian responsibility during moments of grief. Echoing this, Joint Secretary Maulana Abdul Muaz Hussaini said that with 24/7 availability and trained teams, the new vans will support thousands of families annually, easing their burden in difficult times.
On the financial front, Treasurer Maulana Naseem-ul-Haq Nadvi Qasmi stated that each van costs approximately ₹45 lakh, in addition to recurring annual expenses. He appealed to philanthropists and institutions to come forward and support this noble cause, ensuring its sustainability and wider reach.
