When Silence Speaks: Disha Singh’s Soliloquy and the Journey of Introspection

There are books that explain emotions, and then there are books that quietly sit beside you and let you feel them. Soliloquy: What the Soul Says When No One’s Listening belongs to the latter. This introspective contemporary poetry collection is less about performance and more about presence. It listens. It waits. And then it speaks with honesty.

Authored by Disha Singh, Soliloquy is a deeply reflective work that explores inner conflict, personal growth, and the quiet truths that surface only in solitude. The poems invite readers into emotional spaces that are often hidden, the thoughts we hesitate to say aloud, the feelings we process in silence, and the questions we ask only ourselves.

For Disha, writing was never a calculated decision. It emerged naturally from a lifelong relationship with books, solitude, and self expression. From childhood, reading became her refuge, and writing became her safest space. Diaries and notebooks held what conversations could not. Over time, this habit of quiet observation evolved into a deep love for expression, shaped by the authors she encountered and the inner world she continued to nurture.

Soliloquy brings together poems written across different stages of her life, from childhood to adolescence. Each piece captures a moment of emotional clarity or confusion, a reflection shaped by growth and self discovery. At the age of eighteen, Disha chose to compile these writings, giving form and voice to an inner world that had been developing with her for years. The result is a collection that feels personal yet relatable, intimate yet expansive.

What makes Soliloquy resonate is its restraint. The poems do not rush to conclusions. They sit with uncertainty. They allow silence to carry meaning. Through themes of introspection and emotional honesty, the book reminds readers that solitude is not emptiness, but a space where understanding quietly unfolds.

Disha Singh is currently a student at the National Forensic Sciences University, Delhi, where she is pursuing an integrated BBA MBA program. Originally brought up in Mumbai and now studying in Delhi, she has carried her love for words across cities and phases of life. A lifelong reader, she found early comfort in books and gradually discovered writing as a way to understand herself. With solitude as a constant companion, her work reflects thoughtful observation, emotional nuance, and a deep curiosity about the inner layers of human experience.

At nineteen, Disha continues to refine her voice, exploring life quietly and honestly through poetry. Alongside Soliloquy, she is preparing for her upcoming release Anagnorisis. She writes the way she observes the world, with attentiveness, sincerity, and a willingness to listen to what lies beneath the surface.

Soliloquy was honored with the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award, recognizing its introspective depth and authentic poetic voice.
