Surat, Gujarat :Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, had a very strong opinion on the handlooms and had a very passionate view of his role in the nation’s economy.

Taking this idea forward, the students of IDT prepared a picture of Gandhiji by connecting various handlooms of India.

It was directed by Aarushi, a teacher in the institution. The entire picture was created by the children of fashion design.

IDT students made Gandhiji's portrait inspired from India's handloom

Gandhiji was a proponent of handlooms, and in 1919 when things were looking hazy for the handloom industry, he brought back his ideas. Gandhiji saw two things in handloom – the fabric of the nation and the heritage of a great country like India.

Even today, our India is famous all over the world for its handloom. With this culture and purpose, IDT always depicts its importance in Fashion to its students.
