Launch of NCCA’s 2023 Conference in Chennai: Empowering Dentists in Clinical Cosmetology

The inaugural gathering of the National Clinical Cosmetology Association (NCCA) in Chennai on October 28, 2023, marked a resounding success. NCCA, which came into being in August 2022 with the noble objective of advancing the well-being of dentists specializing in Clinical Cosmetology, was co-founded by Dr. Hemamalini, Secretary of NCCA, and Dr. Palaniappan, President of NCCA, in collaboration with a committed team of fellow dentists.

The event witnessed the active participation of healthcare professionals hailing from diverse regions across Tamil Nadu and beyond, underscoring the admirable efforts of the organizers in orchestrating enlightening scientific sessions. These sessions were graced by eminent personalities, including Dr. Tamizh Chelvan, Dean, Sri Ramachandra Dental College, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education, the accomplished entrepreneur Mr. Kumaravel, CEO and co-founder of Naturals Salon & Spa, and Dr. Thiagarajan, Director of BM Hospitals, who collectively inaugurated and presided over the proceedings.

Distinguished speakers, such as Dr. Rajinikanth Thiagarajan, Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Tanuja Arvind, a Senior Consultant, Dr. Hemamalini Rajinikanth, Senior Consultant, and Dr. Shanthini, took the stage as keynote speakers. Their deliberations primarily revolved around the delineation of medical cosmetology procedures, scar management, and the realm of permanent makeup (PMU).

A particularly noteworthy aspect of the event was the profound insight shared on medico-legal issues and strategies for addressing cyberbullying and defamation of medical professionals, as elucidated by Senior Lawyer Advocate Karthikeyan, thereby ensuring the practice of medicine in a safe and ethical manner.

With the recent amendment by the Dental Council of India (DCI) incorporating Clinical Cosmetology into the BDS Curriculum, dentists now find themselves presented with exciting new opportunities and prospects to ethically engage in clinical cosmetology within their profession, as articulated by the dedicated NCCA team.
