Magicrete AAC Blocks: Building Heatproof Homes with an Innovative Solution

In today’s era, the unique capability of construction projects is to transform complex and challenging designs into reality. However, the success of these projects relies on the competence of the project manager and the entire team to find suitable materials and supplies for construction. Unfortunately, India has been facing unprecedented heat in recent years, where heatwaves and temperatures continue to rise. The main cause of this situation is climate change, which may lead to the persistence of heatwaves in the future.

According to the World Weather Attribution Group, if global warming increases by 2°C, such heatwaves could occur every five years. In light of this scenario, it is crucial for everyone to explore options for dealing with extreme temperatures.

Magicrete Building Solutions presents a solution to tackle these challenges: Magicrete AAC Blocks. These blocks are lightweight construction materials that replace traditional red bricks. The main advantage of these blocks is their high thermal insulation property, which helps maintain indoor temperatures up to 5°C cooler than the external temperature.

Recognizing the importance of energy conservation, the Ministry of Power recently introduced the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) for residential buildings. This code focuses on the building envelope, aiming to reduce energy consumption for lighting and cooling in new constructions. It emphasizes the use of construction materials with high thermal efficiency, and Magicrete AAC Blocks are at the forefront in this regard. Their thermal rating is better than other wall construction materials, with a U-value of 0.78 W/m²K compared to 2.8 W/m²K for red bricks and 3.2 W/m²K for solid concrete walls. This means that walls made from AAC Blocks prevent external heat from entering the building, resulting in indoor temperatures remaining cool up to 5°C. Consequently, homeowners can save up to 30% on electricity bills as the need for air conditioning to maintain comfortable room temperatures is reduced. In addition to the energy-saving benefits of AAC Blocks, they also provide protection against fire due to their honeycomb structure. AAC Blocks have a fire rating of more than 4 hours, whereas red bricks offer only 2 hours of fire resistance. Therefore, buildings constructed with AAC Blocks offer enhanced fire safety. Moreover, AAC Blocks enable four times faster construction than traditional red clay bricks, and they also provide sound and earthquake resistance.

Magicrete is a leading construction material company in India that has introduced several innovative construction products, including AAC Blocks, AAC Wall Panels, construction chemicals (such as tile adhesives and waterproofing solutions), and modular precast solutions. Magicrete’s products have made a significant contribution to the construction of over one million homes in the past decade.
